Snowdon Holiday Cottage

A five star cottage in a five star location

Set in the heart of beautiful Snowdonia

Ffridd Uchaf is a working organic sheep farm on the southern slopes of Snowdon with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. We farm 776 acres rising to over 3000 feet and also encompassing part of the shoreline of Llyn y Gadair.

The cottage is located in the farmyard and has recently been awarded five stars by the Welsh Tourist Board.

Ideal for walkers...

A footpath to the summit of Snowdon passes through the farmyard, with miles of extra paths including Nantlle Ridge and Watkin Path within walking distance of the farm.

We provide several walking guides in the cottage but walkers would be advised to purchase OS Map reference OL17 if they are planning serious hill walking.

The farms lies next to Beddgelert forest which provides miles of excellent cycling on forest roads and bridlepaths. Bikes can be hired from Beddgelert Bikes situated within the forest. Bikes can be locked up in a barn.

The farm also has lake frontage on Llyn y Gadair, accessible by foot. Visitors are welcome to fish local brown trout.

...canoeists,..

The lakes Llyn Gwynant and Llyn Dinas are nearby as well as numerous other lakes and rivers providing superb opportunities for canoeing and windsurfing. There are also award winning beaches within a short drive of the farm on Anglesey and the Llyn Peninsula.

While enjoying the peace and quiet off the beaten track local attractions are accessible by bus which stops at the end of the drive. The Snowdon Sherpa bus can take you to Beddgelert or Caernarfon with links to Bangor (less than 4 hours by rail from London). The picturesque village of Beddgelert is 2.5 miles away, with pubs, cafes bistros and a pizza house. Caernarfon is a world heritage site, with its famous castle and Roman ruins.

You may choose to travel to Caernarfon by steam train on the Welsh Highland Railway from Rhyd Ddu just a mile away. In the near future volunteers will have extended the service from Rhyd Ddu to Porthmadog. The farm will then overlook the highest point of the railway.
